Manager-Dean Melton:
Dean was born in New Zealand and was introduced to the thoroughbred industry through his grandfather, Jim Cameron who raced the champion racehorse "Triton". On leaving school Dean became an apprentice jockey, riding over 60 winnners. Whilst still living in New Zealand Dean acquired a vast knowledge in the industry with 3 years stud managing which included yearling preparation, breaking-in, private training for the stud as well as breeding season duties. Dean and Jan-Marie then set up their own pre-training establishment, with Dean acquiring his public trainers license on which he had great success with group winners and major jumps races in New Zealand. This then took them to Queensland, Australia, where Dean took up a position with top trainer Bruce McLachlan as a foreman mainly educating the young 2 year old horses. After nine years with Bruce, Dean and Jan-Marie then moved to Sydney 2 ½ years ago to manage Heritage Park for Alby and Lynn Newman.
